Celebrate Easter at sunrise service in Center City at Romare Bearden Park, 7 a.m. on April 12. About a dozen churches and a community choir will lead worship. Stay afterward and enjoy breakfast pastries and coffee during fellowship after the service. Come as you are! All are welcome.

There is parking along the street and in the First Presbyterian Church lot on the corner of Poplar and Trade streets. There is no charge for parking. Seating will be provided, but feel free to bring a lawn chair and/or a blanket (either to sit on or to keep away the chill).

During Lent, seasoned teachers will lead the Chapel Bible Class in the series God Requires Justice, using The Present Word curriculum and accompanying scriptural texts.

March 22: Corrupt Leaders, Micah 3-6

March 29: Leading Justly, Malachi 2-3

Tuesdays (March 3-April 7) during Lent, Young Adults will gather to discuss Godspeed – Answering the Question “Where is God?” To prepare, watch the film. The group will meet in members’ homes, 6:30-8 p.m., for this study. Email the Reverend Robert Galloway to receive details. All are welcome–including your friends.

On Sunday, March 22, a combined class during the Formation hour will revisit messages from this year’s Willard Lecture with Father Greg Boyle. The Reverend Pen Peery will lead this class, which will include clips from the lecture and discussion in Wood Fellowship Overflow at 10 a.m. All are invited.

The Reverend Robert Galloway will lead a Bible study on Wednesdays at noon during Lent. Lunch will be available for a suggested $8. Bring co-workers, neighbors and friends to this mid-week opportunity to refocus and restore. This will meet in Wood Fellowship Hall.

All members are encouraged to attend one of the Opening Doors Capital Campaign information sessions planned during March. These sessions are your opportunity to hear about the scope of the work that will be possible when we reach our campaign goals—including work in our Sanctuary, mission work and infrastructure. Make plans now to attend one of these remaining sessions:

  • Tuesday, March 31, at 5 p.m. at Sharon Towers

First Reads, our quarterly congregational book group, will read and discuss The Divine Dance: The Trinity and Your Transformation by Richard Rohr. This book suggests a shift in the way that we consider the Trinity and images of God. Rohr writes, “…the gift of the Trinity… offers a grounded reconnection with  God, self, others and world…” The discussion will take place on Thursday, March 26, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at various locations offsite.To sign up, email the Reverend Robert Galloway

The final class in this series on the Trinity will be Sunday, March 15. The Trinity: Holy Spirit will be led by the Reverend Mary Bowman.
