Parish Nurse Kristin Foster, RN, will be the speaker for this year’s PW Birthday Dinner on May 10. Her topic will be Creating Communities—Just What the Doctor Ordered. The $15 ticket includes appetizers during 5:30 gathering time, followed by dinner and a program at 6 p.m. in Wood Fellowship Hall.
“When Kristin talked to us about her topic on the ways building community contributes to our physical, emotional and spiritual health, it was the perfect tie-in to our overall theme for the 2018-19 PW year—Community of Joy,” said incoming PW moderator Jane Ives. “So we planned this year’s dinner to focus on the joy of our PW community and what it brings to each of us as we celebrate.”
A Registered Nurse, Kristin grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia and received her BSN at the Catholic University of America. She has worked in oncology, hospice care and mother-baby nursing. Before joining the staff at First Presbyterian in 2017, she worked as a substitute in the health room at Charlotte Country Day School. She has a passion for the intersection of health and education ministry. She moved to Charlotte from Stockholm, Sweden, with her husband Joe and their four children in 2009.
To tie into the birthday theme, PW is asking all who attend to bring an unwrapped birthday present for the Health Room at Westerly Hills Academy. The nurses there have said they could use hand sanitizer, 2-ounce or 3-ounce plastic or paper drinking cups, facial tissue, baby wipes, sandwich-sized plastic bags that zip closed, Bandaids or other adhesive bandages with no medication, Target or Walmart gift cards for extra clothes.
