Church History
With the generous support of our members, First Presbyterian has served as a refuge of hope and comfort for our congregation and our community for almost 200 years. By combining our financial gifts with countless hours of volunteer time and prayers, we are able to serve Christ in the Heart of Charlotte.

 Stewardship 2012

Responding to Grace

"Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the teacher, in teaching; the exhorter, in exhortation; the one who contributes, in liberality; the one who gives aid, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness." Romans 12:6-9

Interim's Impressions
"I'm not giving a dime to the budget!"

"What I believe about Stewardship"

This summer, the Pastor Nominating Committee led the church through a time of self-reflection as we celebrated what God is doing through our community of faith.  Each week, we heard the ways that God is moving through the worship, education, pastoral care, missions and evangelism of First Presbyterian Church.
Stewardship is our response to this movement of God.  We respond to “the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the sharing (koinonia) in the Holy Spirit” (II Corinthians 13:13).  The “giving” is of our essence, our “bios,” our lives. In the giving of ourselves, we indicate proportions of our energies, skills, and finances to God through our faith community.

The distinction between giving ourselves to God and giving to a budget is important for us to consider.
