Church History

Presbyterian Women, 2011-2012
Did you know that when you become a member of First Presbyterian Church you are automatically welcomed into a group of supportive, caring women called Presbyterian Women, or PW? Helping you find your place and feeling connected to our larger church through small study groups called "circles" is one of the goals of PW. These groups not only provide a place for you to make lasting friendships, but they also will help nurture your spiritual life, enhance your prayer life, engage in outreach projects and provide for you a time to relax and just have fun together.

Special Annual Events for All Women, 2011-2012
You are invited to participate in our four general lunch or dinner gatherings during the coming year. These events can give a newcomer a feel for the work and fellowship of PW. Information about each gathering can be found in the church publications prior to each event.

Our final event for 2011 was the annual PW Advent Luncheon. Events in 2012 include the Mission Dinner on February 15, the retreat at Laurel Ridge April 20-22, and the PW Birthday Celebration on May 9.

You can register for the February 15 Mission Dinner here.

Small Study Group Opportunities
Our hope is that in addition to the larger events, you will choose to join one of the small study groups (circles). They meet once a month (October - May) and at various times-- morning, afternoon and evening. Two choices of study are available. Kristina Hoops (704-376-7964), Presbyterian Women's New Member Chair, will contact you to answer any questions you may have about PW and to assist you in selecting the right circle. Listed below are the studies the circles have chosen to study this year:
